Torgiano
Production Area
In the DOC and DOCG production area of Torgiano we have 2 growing areas
of which 24 hectares on the hills south of the town of Brufa and 13 hectare
in the wetlands of Miralduolo
The area in the south of Brufa is characterized by two different territories:
The North hill (height from 230 to 270 meters) with mainly clay
and calcareous soils, facing south where the red berried varieties,
Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot, are grown.
The wines produced in this area are distinguished by power,
body and color which are well suited to long aging times.
Here Torgiano Rosso Riserva DOCG is produced;
it is the highest expression of the Torgiano wines.
The continuous ventilation of this hill promotes
the health and physiology of the plant. Average yield: 6,000 kg/ha
The South hill has loose sand-silty soils and East-South/East exposure.
Here, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, which enjoy
a nocturnal harvest, and Trebbiano Toscano and the autochthonous Grechetto are grown.
The varieties cultivated here keep acidity and flavors, and give birth to sapid wines
with an interesting floral bouquet. Average yield: 8,000 kg/ha
The area of Miralduolo is characterized by lime-clay valley
soils, fertile, ventilated, with West-South West exposure.
Here, Chardonnay and Sangiovese are grown.
The Sangiovese produced here has soften colors, a higher acidity and freshness
