Production Area

The growing areas of Sagrantino extend for 20 hectares,
all in the municipality of Bevagna.
13 hectares are grown in the hills of Torre del Colle.
Clay-loam soils, East-South-East exposure,
accentuated slope that avoid excessive humidity.
The other 7 hectare are located in valley silty-loam soils,
where, to avoid excessive vigor and contain production,
the roots are pruned and fertilization rationed

In all the lands, in order to reduce chemical inputs for the soil fertilization,
the practice of green manure is implemented by mixing different plant species
based on the soils, preferring higher percentages of legumes in soils
with low fertility and reducing them in soils with greater fertility.

In the most fertile soil, permanent grassing with gramineous plants
is also practiced in order to reduce the vigor of the vine.

All our grapes intended for the TENUTA BALDO line
are rigorously hand-picked, the bunches are selected and
undergo a further selection as they enter the cellar.
